San Diego Chargers linebacker Jarret Johnson announced his retirement on Tuesday via an Instagram post, after spending 12 seasons in the NFL.

“Today I am announcing my retirement from the game I love,” Johnson said on the post. “I lived a dream which few can say but it’s time to move on. I want to thank the Chargers organization for giving me a home these past three years.”

Like Johnson mentioned in the post he spent three seasons with the Chargers, the other nine he spent with the Baltimore Ravens.

Johnson was a fixture in the Charger linebackers corps and started 37 games in which he recorded 5.5 sacks and 84 tackles.

He also earned the team’s co-Most Inspirational Player of the Year award in 2013 and 2014.

Johnson was due $5 million in 2015.
