San Diego State men’s basketball team was ranked No. 16 in the preseason Associated Press Top-25 poll, that came out on Friday, their highest preseason ranking in program history.

The AP ranking comes on the heels of the announcement of their No. 17 ranking in the USA Today Preseason Coaches Poll, which at the time, was the highest preseason rank in program history.

This marks the third time  that the Aztecs showed up in the preseason AP Top-25, including the 2012-13 and 2010-11 seasons. SDSU is the only team in California that is ranked in the AP poll, and is the only team represented in the Mountain West Conference.

SDSU will play an exhibition match against Point Loma on Friday Nov. 7, and officially kick of their season on Friday Nov. 14 against Cal State Northridge . Both games are scheduled to start at 7 p.m. PT at Viejas Arena.
