Over 200 protesters showed up in National City on Saturday night to protest the Assembly Bill 5, which requires most independent contractors in California to become traditional shift employees or not work.
The bill, which was signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom and takes effect Jan. 1, was targeted at Uber and Lyft, but affects as many as 2 million people in California.
The rideshare companies have pledged $100 million to support a ballot measure to overturn the bill as it affects their businesses.
Gonzalez was leading her 8th annual diaper drive, which donates over 400,00 diapers to the San Diego Food Bank for collection by need families.
