The city of Encinitas has launched a revamped “climate dashboard” website measuring the city’s efforts to implement its Climate Action Plan.
The online platform is designed with community members in mind and is a place where residents can explore the city’s CAP goals and find answers to their questions about the city’s current progress on climate action.
The climate dashboard features key components of the Climate Action Plan such as building efficiency, clean and efficient transportation, off-road equipment (i.e. leaf blowers), renewable energy, carbon sequestration, water efficiency and zero waste.
“From zero waste to zero emission vehicles, Encinitas will only meet its ambitious climate goals with the help of the entire community,” said CAP Administrator Crystal Najera. “The climate dashboard is where residents and businesses can learn how to get involved.”
The climate dashboard is based on the best practice of turning data into stories. The dashboard offers residents compelling stories, graphics and clear calls to action.
For example, if a user is interested in the city’s progress on building efficiency, they are a click away from an update on energy consumption in municipal buildings, which has decreased 64% since 2012. The dashboard also includes links to SDG&E rebates and other helpful resources.
