Rep. Scott Peters, a former City Council member, is reportedly considering running for San Diego mayor in 2020, according to a Washington-based website.
The political news website TheHill.com quoted MaryAnne Pintar, Peter’s chief of staff, as saying the four-term Democratic Congressman is looking into a possible candidacy.
“He is considering,” Pintar confirmed to Times of San Diego, adding that he will make a decision in the “next couple of months.”
Peters served on the council from 2000 to 2008 and then as a commissioner for the Port of San Diego before being elected to Congress in 2012.
Other Democrats who have been mentioned as potential candidates are City Councilwoman Barbara Bry and state Assemblyman Todd Gloria.
