Rail service will be shut down this weekend along San Diego’s North County coastal corridor to allow for construction work.

The closure for Saturday and Sunday will impact Amtrak and the North County Transit District‘s Coaster trains. Amtrak will provide buses between Oceanside and San Diego, while Coaster passengers can ride the NCTD’s Route 101 bus.

Crews will continue a project to replace bridges over the Los Penasquitos Lagoon, according to the NCTD.

Normal rail service will resume in time for the Monday morning commute.

Separately today, the NCTD’s Sprinter light rail station at El Camino Real in Oceanside will be closed from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. to improve a pedestrian bridge.
