Sen. Kamala Harris and incoming Rep. Mike Levin toured Camp Pendleton on Monday to receive a briefing on the capabilities and operations of the I Marine Expeditionary Force.

Harris, a former California Attorney General, is a a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and a possible Democratic candidate for President in 2020. Levin is the newly elected representative of the 49th District in north coastal San Diego and south Orange counties.

“What I saw are incredibly dedicated Americans who are serving our country, doing extraordinary work that requires high-level skills,” said Harris. “I also spent time with the spouses of active service members, talking about the sacrifices they make in terms of their children and being by themselves for eight months at a time. They can’t be thanked enough.”

Levin praised  the I MEF’s commander, Lt. Gen. Joseph Osterman, and all of the personnel at Camp Pendleton “for all they do for our country and community.”
