The Department of Defense announced Sunday the death of one soldier who was supporting Operation Freedom’s Sentinel in Afghanistan.

Sgt. 1st Class, Stephen B. Cribben, 33, of Simi Valley, died Saturday in Logar Province as a result of wounds he sustained while engaging in combat operations there, according to the DOD.

Cribben was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group in Fort Carson, Colo.

The incident is under investigation.
