Air Force F-35A Lightning II stealth jets from Luke Air Force Base will train at Miramar this week with jets assigned to the USS Theodore Roosevelt.

The jets from the 62nd Fighter Squadron, 56th Operations Group, 56th Fighter Wing, are scheduled to conduct training from Aug. 21 to 30, according to the Marine Corps.

The squadron, based out of Luke Air Force Base in Arizona, will train with the Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group prior to the carrier’s deployment scheduled for later this year.

The F-35A is the Air Force’s most advanced jet, part of a trillion-dollar program that is building similar aircraft for all three services.

There are currently about 55 of the new planes based at Luke Air Force base
