
If you like chicken, you’re in luck.
The nine Chick-fil-A restaurants in San Diego County are preparing to give away more than 8,000 chicken sandwiches on Wednesday, May 25, as part of its annual “Military Appreciation Night” promotion.
Between the hours of 4 and 7 p.m., any active duty member of the military or retired veteran with a military ID or proof of service, along with every one of their immediate family members with them, will receive their choice of a free entrée at any one of the nine Chick-fil-A restaurants in San Diego County.
Free entrée choices include the Original Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich, Chick-fil-A spicy chicken sandwich, Chick-fil-A eight-piece nuggets or Chick-fil-A three-piece chicken strips. Offer valid for dine-in customers only. The event will include family-friendly activities and entertainment for guests at each Chick-fil-A restaurant.
“We are honored to host military families for this special evening at each of our restaurants in San Diego,” said Matt Hughes, Chick-fil-A franchise operator of Chick-fil-A on Sports Arena Boulevard in San Diego. “We would like to take this opportunity to extend our gratitude to those who have served our nation, along with their families, in the simplest way we know how: with great food. Thank you for your service and dedication to our nation.”
At the Sports Arena Chick-fil-A, 3570 Sports Arena Blvd, San Diego, a special ceremony will be held starting at 4:15 p.m. Activities will include: National Anthem sung by American Idol contestant and San Diego native Marvin Calderon Jr.; Presentation of free Chick-fil-A for an entire year to retired U.S. Army infantryman Gabriel Martinez and his family (Martinez currently is a resident of Operation Homefront’s Transitional Housing Village in San Diego).
Additional activities will include a kids zone with crafts, face painting, giant slide, rock climbing wall and laser tag, music from a disc jockey, Hawaiian dancers and music, a magician, displays from community vendors and raffle prizes. Volunteers will include members of the San Diego Thunder semi-pro football team.

This is Chick-fil-A’s ninth annual “Military Appreciation Night” in San Diego. The event began in San Diego in 2008, when there were four Chick-fil-A restaurants in San Diego County. It has since grown to more than 50 Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout Southern California and other participating restaurants in several major U.S. cities, including Washington, D.C.
