Blank weapons fire may be heard around Imperial Beach beginning Monday as a Navy training exercise gets underway.

The training in the vicinity of Naval Outlying Landing Field Imperial Beach, just east of the Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge, is scheduled to run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through April 22, according to Naval Base Coronado. It will involve pyrotechnics and blank weapons fire.

“The Navy recognizes the importance of being good neighbors with the local communities and makes every effort to abate noise when possible,” according to the statement.

Those who wish to file a noise complaint regarding the training can do so via the Navy’s online complaint form.
