U.S. and coalition military forces, including jets from the USS Theodore Roosevelt, continued to attack the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant with 28 airstrikes over a 24-hour period ending Saturday morning.

The Roosevelt, which will replace the USS Ronald Regan in San Diego after its current deployment, is in the 5th Fleet area of operations supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.

The Defense Department reported the following airstrikes by attack, bomber and fighter aircraft against ISIS in Syria:

  • Near Hasakah, 13 airstrikes struck three large and seven small ISIS tactical units, destroying nine fighting positions, 10 vehicles, two heavy machine guns and an armored vehicle
  • Near Aleppo, one airstrike struck an ISIS building and a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device
  • Near Kobani, one airstrike struck an ISIS tactical unit, destroying a vehicle and a heavy machine gun

Attack, fighter and remotely-piloted aircraft carried out these airstrikes in against ISIS in Iraq:

  • Near Asad, one airstrike struck an ISIS tactical unit
  • Near Beiji, four airstrikes struck two ISIS tactical units, destroying three vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices, two staging areas for improvised explosive devices, an ISIS structure, a vehicle and an improvised explosive device
  • Near Fallujah, four airstrikes struck an ISIS tactical unit, a weapons facility, an improvised explosive-device staging facility and a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device facility
  • Near Mosul, one airstrike destroyed an ISIS excavator
  • Near Sinjar, one airstrike struck an ISIS mortar position
  • Near Tal Afar, two airstrikes destroyed an ISIS building, an excavator, a heavy machine gun and a fighting position

Coalition nations conducting airstrikes in the United States, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Jordan, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
