A parade of winter storms brought widespread rain, gusty winds and mountain snow to San Diego County this week, with a third round of unsettled weather expected through Thursday.
Rainfall totals ranged from a few tenths of an inch in desert areas to more than 3.5 inches in parts of the mountains over the past two days, according to the National Weather Service.
Mountain communities saw the heaviest precipitation, along with several inches of snow at higher elevations, including Mount Laguna.
High temperatures Wednesday are expected to reach 60 along the coast, 56 to 59 in the western valleys, 49 to 54 near the foothills, 41 to 47 in the mountains and 59 to 64 in the deserts.
Looking ahead, forecasters said intermittent showers, strong winds and additional mountain snow will continue into Thursday. Wind gusts could reach up to 75 mph along east-facing mountain slopes, while large and hazardous surf is expected at west-facing beaches through Friday.
Conditions are expected to improve heading into the weekend, with warmer, drier weather and temperatures climbing to slightly above average. However, meteorologists caution that another chance of rain could return early next week.
