LA JOLLA – This year’s Fur Ball Gala was an incredible celebration of compassion and generosity, said Dr. Gary Weitzman, president and chief executive officer of the San Diego Humane Society.

“Together, we raised $1.5 million to support animals in need — a testament to how deeply this community cares,” Weitzman said. “It was especially meaningful to honor Judy Muñoz with our Lifetime Achievement Award.

“Her decades of dedication to animals have left an indelible mark on San Diego Humane Society and the countless lives we serve.”

And they made it so much fun to support, with a red carpet entrance to a bounty of cuisine bites at cocktail time and dinner by chef Jeffrey Strauss of Pamplemousse Grille.

A particularly entertaining part was watching the parade of well-dressed dogs of all sizes with their owners, followed later by dancing to Haute Chile.

Jessica Manning of The JEM Project, which offers private grants to worthy causes such as this, was also honored.

Bravo!

Key takeaways: Money raised is crucial to save lives. So is pitching in. Volunteering, fostering, adopting is so worthy of your consideration.
