San Diego County is in for another scorching day Thursday, with excessive heat continuing across inland areas and the deserts, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures are forecast to continue peaking Thursday, with highs ranging from the 70s near the coast to 119 degrees in the lower deserts.
Other regional highs are expected to reach 90 in the western valleys, 96 to 101 near the foothills and 93 to 103 in the mountains.
A heat advisory remains in effect for San Diego County’s inland valleys and mountains, while an extreme heat warning continues for the deserts through 8 p.m. Thursday.
Relief is on the way by Friday, when temperatures begin to drop closer to seasonal averages, the NWS said.
Coastal areas and western valleys will see continued cooling through the weekend, while the deserts will remain hot with above-average temperatures.
A deeper marine layer is expected to bring patchy morning fog near the coast Thursday and more widespread cloud cover into the weekend.
