Parts of San Diego County will face moderate heat warnings as soon as Friday as warmer temperatures are expected to hit this coming weekend, forecasters said.
Light chances of moisture along with scattered thunderstorms are also expected Friday. The highest percentage of precipitation Friday is 26% near Mt. Laguna.
The higher temperatures are expected to roll in Thursday, with highs reaching 107 in the deserts of San Diego County.
The hotter weather is forecasted to continue through the weekend and early into the following week, according to the National Weather Service. Saturday will bring heat risk warnings for the San Diego county valleys in addition to the deserts.
“Moderate to major heat risk is expected for the valleys and mountains with major heat risk in the deserts,” the NWS said.
Highs for Saturday will be around 79 in downtown San Diego, from the high 80s to the high 90s in the valleys, and as high as 101 in the mountains and 115 in the deserts.
