With peak fire season rapidly approaching, San Diego Gas & Electric is holding the last of three fire-safety fairs on Saturday at the Alpine Community Center.

The free event will feature presentations by Cal Fire San Diego Capt. Isaac Sanchez and Sandra Younger, a survivor of the 2003 Cedar Fire who chronicled her experience in the book “The Fire Outside My Window.”

SDG&E  experts will share information about weather monitoring and how public safety power shutoffs are used as a last resort to prevent catastrophic wildfires.

The fair is from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 1830 Alpine Boulevard.

Attendees can enjoy free ice cream and hot dogs, and the first 300 will receive emergency kit backpacks.
