With more than two decades of celebrating everything that makes our furry companions unique, the San Diego Coastal Chamber of Commerce and Del Mar Kiwanis is hosting the 24th Annual “Not Just for Ugly Dogs” Contest, and Helen Woodward Animal Center is honored to be a part of it.

The event is at the Del Mar Fairgrounds on Sunday, March 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The yearly Del Mar canine competition formerly known as the “Ugly Dog” contest agrees there’s beauty to be found within all animals and will crown a top dog in a variety of creative categories.  This year the adorable event has another beautiful mission – helping secure food for the Center’s AniMeals program.

The entire family, including four-legged members, is invited to a fun-filled day of activities for all ages, raffles, vendors and more. The highlight, of course, is the epic “Not Just for Ugly Dogs” Contest, which includes a wide variety of categories including owner look-alike, cutest puppy, most unusual natural markings, best trick, best costume, cutest mutt, and of course most beautiful female dog, most handsome male dog, and ugliest dog.

Helen Woodward Animal Center will be on site collecting dog and cat food donations. Attendees are encouraged to donate unopened, unexpired pet food to the Center’s AniMeals program, which relies on generous donations to continue operating. Donations of Ziploc Freezer quart and gallon bags for packing are also welcomed and appreciated. Attendees who donate unopened dog food will receive one raffle ticket per item donated for a chance to win 10 tickets to the September 24th SIP + SAVOR event at the Hilton ($300 value).

Registration and check-in begins at 10 a.m. Contests begin at 11 a.m.
