Cookies on Tap at AleSmith

This is a sweet pairing: Girl Scout Cookies and craft beer.

At the Cookies on Tap event, you can taste four craft beers expertly paired with five Girl Scout cookies. Spezial Pils paired with Trefoils, Nut Brown Ale with S’mores, AleSmith IPA with Savannah Smiles and Speedway Stout with Tagalongs.

A portion of the proceeds goes to the Girls Scouts organization.

San Diego Winter Brew Festival

It’s almost ubiquitous that San Diego and craft beers go together like cheese and crackers. This Saturday, the San Diego Winter Brew Festival celebrates craft beverages, not just beers, from around California (great beers aren’t just only in San Diego, though it does appear that way sometimes).

The event features live music and food. It is also a fundraiser for Outdoor Outreach and the San Diego Mountain Bike Association.

The festival goes from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Admission range from $40 to $60.

ConDor Con

San Diego’s longest running science fiction and fantasy convention is back this weekend. The theme for this year is “Through the Looking Glass: Alternate Realities.”

Convention goers can expect panel discussions, classes, workshops, art show, a vendor hall, ConDor Academy and a ConSuite. Back this year is the popular Sci-Fi/Fantasy museum and art show. Cosplayers welcome.

ConDor Con goes from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. t0 4 p.m. Sunday. Passes range from $30 to $70.

Música en la Plaza

California Center for the Arts, Escondido free Música en la Plaza music series continues this Saturday with Los Montaño.

The group consists of four elements, guitar, bass, accordion and drums. Los Montaño plays the music that inspired them since their youth, cumbia, norteño, corridos and others.

Música en la Plaza starts at 7 p.m. in the Lyric Court at California Center for the Arts, Escondido. Admission is free but RSVP recommended. Seatings at the bistro are available at $12 per seat or $40 for a table of four.

San Diego Awesome ’80s Run 5K & 10K

Here’s a perfect opportunity to dust off your ’80s gear or raid your elder siblings closets for the San Diego Awesome ’80s Run.

Wacky costumes, neon shorts and leggings, wild colorful hairstyles, big glasses, headbands and scrunchies, stylish leotards are all encouraged. All finishers will receive a medal and 1980s-style T-shirt. There are also entertainment and an 80s party at the finish line.
