Officials along with community and family members gathered Wednesday to honor the lives of all San Diego County law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.
The 34th Annual Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony held at the Regional Law Enforcement Memorial in Waterfront Park saw a new name added to the memorial: U.S. Border Patrol Agent Lawrence B. Pierce. Pierce was killed in 1995 while intervening in a stabbing in Chula Vista. His name was submitted for review to the Memorial Foundation this year.
There are now 87 names sandblasted into the exterior glass of the memorial.

San Diego District Attorney Summer Stephan was among those in attendance at the ceremony.
“Today’s annual law enforcement memorial ceremony was an opportunity for all of us to come together with a common purpose to honor fallen officers and their families, and promise that we will never forget their sacrifices,” she said in a tweet.
This week the County Administration Center was lit in blue in honor of the ceremony.
