Patchy, dense fog shrouded much of coastal San Diego on Friday night, with visibility dropping to a quarter mile or less.

The National Weather Service office in San Diego said the fog would make driving difficult from Oceanside to Pt. Loma.

Offshore winds were expected to clear the fog after midnight, and Saturday was forecast to be mostly sunny in the morning with highs 69 to 74 at the beaches and 75 to 80 inland.
