The Maritime Museum of San Diego has just completed holiday lighting of the legendary and oldest active sailing ship in the world — the Star of India.

Prominently located along the San Diego downtown North Embarcadero, the Star’s bright holiday lighting arrangement was made possible by a donation from long-time volunteer Robert Knapp.

The lights will be lit nightly through New Year’s Day, and the museum is open year round.

The museum has one of the largest collections of historic vessels in the nation plus educational and entertaining photographic, artifact and historical interactive exhibits displayed aboard the 1898 steam ferry boat Berkeley.

Visitors wishing to head out on the water can purchase 4-hour day sail tickets for an afternoon aboard the 1542 galleon replica San Salvador, available most weekends now through the spring

For general admission, the special holiday events calendar, day sail ticket pricing and more information, visit sdmaritime.org.
