San Diego started the week with mild temperatures under partly cloudy skies, but a storm system is expected to hit the region on Thursday.
The National Weather Service office in San Diego said the system is expected to bring moderate to heavy rain Thursday night through Friday morning.
The coasts and inland valleys are forecast to get half to an inch of rain, which will slow the Friday morning commute.
Snowfall of 4 inches or more is predicted for elevations above 7,000 feet, and dangerous boating conditions are possible.
