Calm, cool weather is expected in San Diego County Wednesday, but gusty Santa Ana winds are right around the corner.

“A potentially strong Santa Ana weather pattern will develop Thursday evening and bring strong Santa Ana winds Thursday night through Saturday,” according to the National Weather Service office in San Diego.

Sustained northeast winds from 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 60 mph are forecast for Interstate 8 from Alpine to the Imperial County line.

Boaters can expect northeast winds 15 to 25 mph off northern San Diego County.

“Increasing upper level support and a tightening pressure gradient throughout the day on Friday is forecast to lead to increasing gusty northeasterly winds during the day on Friday, peaking Friday night,” according to the weather service.
