The growing Chula Vista Charitable Foundation, which funds local community organizations, set records in 2014 for its endowment and membership.
Led by Cox, some 111 people have joined the Chula Vista foundation as founding members.
“There are no words to express my gratitude for those who support this valuable endowment through their membership and the extraordinary generosity of those who helped raise more than $100,000,” Cox said.“ Growing this community endowment creates a savings account to serve Chula Vista over the long term.”
Since 2011, the Chula Vista foundation has granted more than $100,000 to eight nonprofit organizations serving San Diego County’s second largest city.
Each year’s grant cycle has a different focus ranging from health and human services, to community engagement and the environment.
“Reaching these milestones shows our members’ commitment to Chula Vista not only today, but a promised commitment for the future,” said Michael Meacham, the foundation’s chairman. “The Chula Vista Charitable Foundation is made up of community members who live, work, and play in Chula Vista and want to see this community thrive.”
Since 2006, The San Diego Foundation has established affiliates in Carlsbad, Chula Vista, Escondido, La Jolla, Oceanside, Ramona, Rancho Bernardo,San Ysidro, and 4S Ranch-Del Sur. The Regional Affiliate program has exceeded 700 members, built endowments of more than $3.5 million overall, and granted more than $3.4 million in total to nonprofit organizations throughout the region.
