UCSD students gathered in Muir College Friday to toss a 500-pound pumpkin, nicknamed “Bruh,” off the 11th story of Tioga Hall.

The 40-year tradition is the seasonal answer to the Spring Quarter watermelon drop, and leads into a Halloween carnival hosted by Muir College. Both drops are meant to measure the fruit’s terminal velocity as it flies off a campus building.

“Bruh” weighed approximately 500 pounds and set a record-breaking 101-foot splatter of pumpkin innards and candy. The doomed pumpkin was donated by Jon Berndes, a local grower.
