MANA de San Diego (MANASD) is hosting their annual Latina Success Conference on Saturday, featuring 26 speakers, interactive workshops and opportunities to network.

MANASD, the largest chapter of a national Latina organization, has a mission to inspire Latina communities to achieve their personal and business goals through education, leadership, community service and advocacy, according to their website.

In partnership with San Diego State University, MANASD is hosting the conference to promote leadership development for Latinas in their professional and personal goals.

The event will be held on the SDSU campus at the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union on from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The theme, “Transforming Latinas Today and For the Future,” is a goal of MANASD and SDSU, according to Adele de la Torre, the university’s president.

MANASD was co-founded in 1986 by a SDSU alumna, and 29 of the chapter’s 75 scholarship recipients are SDSU students.

“I am forever grateful for your (MANASD) support and partnership,” Torre said in a letter.

“I learned long ago the profound impact that happens when Latinas help each other,” she said. “To all who attend this conference … You are building a culture of support and success that will affect generations of Latinas to come.”

The speakers will lead three interactive workshops following varying tracks – leadership, wellness, career and education.

The event’s keynote speaker, Diana Ramos, is California’s second surgeon general and first Latina surgeon general.

Also at the event, Nellie Andrade, MANASD’s former board president, will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement award for her “exceptional and lifelong contributions to the Latina community,” according to a release.

MANASD’s current board president, Claudia Rempel, also will be honored for a “legacy of leadership and dedication.”
