
One person was badly injured in a solo-vehicle crash in San Marcos early Monday morning.
Paramedics responded at around 2:20 a.m. Monday to reports of a vehicle that had veered off the roadway for unknown reasons from the SR-78 and ended up crashing through a guardrail, landing on E. Carmel Street near Twin Oaks Valley Road.
The driver was trapped inside the vehicle for at least twenty minutes before being rescued by fire officials, according to reports.
Video from the scene showed the badly mangled car.
The driver was hospitalized in critical condition at Palomar Medical Center, but was expected to survive. The circumstances surrounding the crash remained unclear.
