Authorities have named the woman who was killed over Memorial Day weekend in a predawn crash on Interstate 15.
Samantha Dimaano Spradlin, 32, of San Diego was heading north at about 2:35 a.m. Saturday when the vehicle she was driving veered off the roadway and struck a tree south of University Avenue, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
She died at the scene after the force of the collision with the eucalyptus tree sheared the black Kia Telluride in two and left it in flames, according to the California Highway Patrol.
It is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the crash. A toxicology report is pending
through the Medical Examiner’s office.
