Brief evacuation warnings were issued shortly after 2 p.m. on Monday because of a brush fire near the intersection of Ted Williams Parkway and Pomerado Road in Poway.

Cal Fire, the Poway Fire Department and San Diego Fire-Rescue converged on the blaze, which had reached 3 acres in size and threatened nearby structures before forward progress was reported to have been stopped around 3 p.m.

Crews fought the fire with two helicopters, two air tankers and an air attack plane. They were mopping up hot spots by 3:30 p.m.

Because of the wind direction, the potential evacuation area stretched southwest of the intersection. The warnings have since been lifted.

A temporary evacuation point had been set up at Abraxas High School, 12450 Glen Oak Road in Poway.

The Sheriff’s Office said some roads remained closed as of Monday evening, including Ted Williams Parkway and a portion of Pomerado Road.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, according to the Sheriff’s Office. No injuries or structural damage were reported.
