An Oceanside police officer and a second driver were injured today in a crash in a commercial area near Buddy Todd Park, authorities reported.
The officer was responding to an earlier collision when the driver of an oncoming Toyota Corolla ran a red light at Mission Avenue and Roymar Road and crashed into the cruiser at about 9:15 a.m., according to the Oceanside Police Department.
Paramedics took the officer and the driver of the Corolla to hospitals for treatment of minor and moderately serious injuries, respectively, according to an OPD statement.
It was not immediately clear if intoxication played a role in the accident, according to police.
