Authorities have publicly identified one of three residents of Boulevard killed a week ago in a head-on traffic crash in the rural community in the southeastern reaches of the San Diego area.
Dora Valencia Magana, 44, was behind the wheel of an eastbound 2015 Toyota Camry that veered to the left across a set of double yellow lines on Old Highway 80 for unknown reasons and crashed into an oncoming 1995 Ford F-150 pickup truck about 1 a.m. last Friday, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office and the California Highway Patrol.
Following the collision near Tierra Del Sol Road, Valencia Magana got out of her damaged car and was struck by an eastbound 2000 Honda CR-V, CHP public-affairs Officer Jared Grieshaber said.
She died at the scene.
Paramedics took the 65-year-old woman who had been driving the Ford and a 70-year-old man who had been riding in it to a trauma center, where they were pronounced dead. Their names were withheld pending family notification.
Another man, 62, who had been a passenger in the Ford and the 58-year-old man who had been driving the Honda — both Boulevard residents — were hospitalized for treatment of injuries of varying severity, according to the Highway Patrol.
Intoxication was not believed to have been a factor in the accident, Grieshaber said.
