A woman is facing felony charges following a deadly crash that killed a 62-year-old man in Del Mar, authorities said Thursday.
The crash occurred just before midnight Tuesday in the 2000 block of Coast Boulevard. Arriving deputies learned the driver of a 2019 Maserati Gran Turismo had crashed into a parked Dodge Ram and a tree, according to Sgt. Jeremy Collis of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
Collis said emergency personnel found the gravely injured 62-year-old man in the passenger seat of the Maserati, but the driver had fled the scene.
Paramedics took the man to a trauma center, where he was pronounced dead. His name was withheld pending family notification.
Collis said the suspected driver of the Maserati was later tracked down and arrested.
Elizabeth Brooks-Fratus, 52, was taken under arrest to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla for treatment of the injuries she sustained in the crash. Collis said she faces charges of DUI, vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run.
No one was inside the Dodge at the time of the crash.
