 A 55-year-old woman was injured Saturday when her foot was smashed between a curb and the wheel of her vehicle while it was in drive, authorities said.

The injury occurred around 7 a.m. Saturday near 6566 Pinecone Lane in the Bay Terraces neighborhood of San Diego, according to the San Diego Police Department.

“The driver stepped out of her 2013 Honda Accord while it was still in drive. As the driver attempted to regain control of her vehicle, her foot became pinned between the left front wheel and the curb. The driver sustained a compound malleolar fracture to the left ankle,” the department reported.

She was taken by medics to a hospital where she was treated for an injury described as non-life-threatening. The victim’s identity has not been released, and the reason for the woman stepping out of her vehicle was unclear.

No further information was immediately available.
