
A female pedestrian was struck and killed early Saturday in a hit-and-run while walking on a highway north of the border.
The collision occurred around 12:05 a.m. Saturday on state Route 905 west, east of Interstate 5, according to the California Highway Patrol. The driver of the unknown vehicle continued westbound on the 905.
The victim died at the scene.
A toxicology report is pending by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office, the CHP said. The name of the victim was being withheld pending notification to the next of kin.
All lanes of SR-905 west, east of Beyer Boulevard were closed during the investigation. Traffic was diverted to Beyer Boulevard.
