A parolee who remained at large for nearly two years after allegedly stabbing another man to death in Chula Vista was behind bars Thursday on suspicion of murder.

Members of a U.S. Marshals Service fugitive task force captured Raymond William Lynde, 30, at the San Ysidro Port of Entry Wednesday, according to the Chula Vista Police Department.

Lynde is suspected of killing Ariel Burquez, 23, outside an apartment complex in the 200 block of Rancho Drive on the evening of July 18, 2020, Chula Vista police Sgt. Anthony Molina said. Burquez died at the scene.

Police believed the suspect fled to Mexico following the slaying. Authorities have disclosed no suspected motive and have not revealed the relationship, if any, between the suspect and victim.

Lynde remains in San Diego Central Jail without bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Friday afternoon.
