A man was seriously injured late Sunday when he lost control of his Dodge muscle car on Santo Road in Tierrasanta, hit a center divider was ejected from the vehicle.

San Diego Police reported that the 30-year-old man was driving southbound in a black 2015 Dodge Challenger when he jumped the curb near Shields Street around 11 p.m.

The vehicle crossed into northbound lanes then back into southbound traffic and left the roadway, hitting “shrubs, plants, trees, a bus bench and a retaining wall along the east side of the street,” before swerving into the northbound lanes where the victim was ejected.

The Challenger came to rest in the No. 1 lane of northbound Santo Road. Police found the driver lying unconscious in the roadway behind his vehicle.

The man is in stable condition with cuts to his legs and face, as well as facial fractures and internal injuries, according to police.

No other information was released, though alcohol is believed to be factor in the accident. The police traffic division is investigating the accident.
