A deputy driving a San Diego County Sheriff’s Department patrol vehicle was involved in a crash with another car Thursday in Lakeside, the California Highway Patrol said.
The deputy was not hurt, authorities said. The occupant of the second vehicle reported chest pains and was being evaluated by medics.
The traffic accident happened about 5:45 p.m. Thursday on state Route 67 near Mapleview Street in Lakeside. Several sheriff’s units responded to the incident, which appeared to have shut down the intersection.
The cause is not yet known.
