Surveillance photos taken of a man suspected of robbing a grocery store bank branch were released Thursday by the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the San Diego Violent Crimes Task Force. The agencies are seeking the public’s help to identify the man.

Authorities are searching for a man who was wearing a sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head and mirrored aviator glasses when he robbed an Egger Highlands supermarket banking center. The thief approached a teller at the US Bank branch inside a Vons store in the 600 block of Saturn Boulevard shortly before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, announced that he had a gun and demanded money, according to San Diego police.

After the clerk gave him an undisclosed amount of cash, the robber left the business and fled in an unknown direction, Sgt. Michael Tansey said.

The bandit was described as a thin, roughly 5-foot-9-inch white or Hispanic man who spoke with some type of accent, possibly Middle Eastern.

The man was wearing a blue and gray hooded Padres sweatshirt, dark pants and mirrored sunglasses.

Law enforcement officials are asking that anyone with information regarding the robbery contact the FBI at (858) 320-1800 or www.fbi.gov/tips or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 or www.crimestoppers.org.
