
A US Bank branch in South County was robbed Wednesday afternoon by a man who told the teller he had a gun, authorities said.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the robber walked up to the teller at about 4:25 p.m. Wednesday and demanded cash, which he was given. He then fled the bank branch, which is located inside a Vons grocery story at 665 Saturn Blvd., in the Egger Highlands neighborhood adjacent to Imperial Beach.
The man left through the store’s west exit. Authorities said, however, that there was no further indication of which way he went.
No gun was seen during the robbery. Police did not disclose how much money was stolen.
Police said the man was wear a hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, a gray sleeveless shirt over the sweatshirt, and mirrored aviator-style sunglasses.
The suspect was described as either a white man or Hispanic man with a light complexion, and possible has a Middle Eastern accent. He was said to be in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5-foot, 9-inches tall, and thin.
