Firefighting crews put out a grass fire of up to three acres Sunday in Oak Park, fire officials said.
The fire did not threaten structures, but it burned close to local Little League fields.
Authorities responded to the blaze, at 3003 55th St., northwest of North Chollas Community Park, at 2:25 p.m.
The first unit arrived at 2:30 p.m., with 38 personnel assigned to fight the fire.
Crews stopped the fire’s progress despite breezy conditions and began mopping up about an hour later, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
Two helicopters aided in the firefighting effort.
