An intense fire leveled a structure and spread into vegetation in Campo, leaving two residents injured late Thursday afternoon.
Authorities learned of the blaze. off the 33000 block of state Route 94 in unincorporated, far southeastern San Diego County, shortly before 5 p.m., according to Cal Fire.
The flames gutted the building – it was not immediately clear if it had been a house or some other type of structure. They also destroyed at least one vehicle, said Cal Fire Capt. Issac Sanchez.
Crews, including personnel aboard firefighting aircraft, extinguished foliage set ablaze by the fire. The total area of the burning vegetation was less than an acre, Sanchez said.
The conditions of the two injured people were not immediately available, and the cause of the fire was unclear.
