A brush fire in the center divide of Interstate 8 near Crestwood Road in Campo temporarily closed the highway in rural East County.
Caltrans reported all lanes shut down just after 2 p.m.
As of 3 p.m., one lane was open in each direction as Cal Fire reported that the fire’s spread has been halted and it was confined to the median.
The fire comes amid San Diego County’s first summer heat wave, with temperatures predicted to hit 116 degrees in the desert.
