Authorities Thursday announced the arrests of two teenage boys in connection with a fatal College Area shooting, while suggesting more suspects may be sought.
The suspects, ages 14 and 15, were taken into custody Tuesday for allegedly taking part in the killing of Ishi Hampton, 39, in the 6300 block of Alvarado Road on earlier this month, according to police.
Patrol officers responded to reports of gunfire in the neighborhood just east of San Diego State University about 6:15 a.m. on May 2 arrived to find Hampton with a gunshot wound to his upper body, Sgt. Chris Tivanian said.
Medics took Hampton to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Tivanian declined to disclose how investigators identified the suspects, whose names were withheld because they are minors. He also would not comment on any suspected motive for the slaying.
“The investigation continues, and additional arrests may be forthcoming,” the sergeant said.
