A fire at a mobile home park in Santee destroyed a trailer and killed a woman and a dog, authorities reported Monday.
A paramedic returning from a call spotted smoke coming from the 10800 block of Woodside Avenue around 10:50 p.m. Sunday and notified dispatchers, according to Santee Fire Department Deputy Chief Tim Stuber.
Firefighters arrived at the Mission Del Magnolia mobile home park and found heavy flames and smoke coming from the back of a trailer, Stuber said.
As crews were preparing to douse the blaze, the trailer became fully engulfed in flames, Stuber said.
Crews prevented the fire from spreading to surrounding trailers and knocked down the flames within 25 minutes, he said.
Once crews extinguished the flames, they went inside the trailer and discovered the bodies of a woman and a dog in a bedroom, NBC7 reported.
No details about the victim were immediately available.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
