A routine traffic stop in Poway led to a drug bust in the city that resulted in arrests and seizure of “large quantities” of MDMA (ecstasy), Xanax, cocaine, methamphetamine and psilocybin (mushrooms), a sheriff’s official reported Friday.
The investigation began Wednesday afternoon when deputies pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation. During the stop, drugs were discovered in the vehicle and an investigation was launched that included search warrants for residences in San Diego and Poway, according to sheriff’s Lt. Christopher Collier.
During the home searches, more illegal drugs were found along with over $20,000 in cash related to narcotics sales, Collier said.
Three people were arrested during the investigation and booked on suspicion of possession of controlled substances.
