A 33-year-old woman was killed early Saturday morning when she lost control of her speeding car on 54th Street and struck a power pole in San Diego’s Oak Park neighborhood.
San Diego Police said the Nissan Maxima was traveling south on 54th Street at 100 mph when it skidded out of control at approximately 1:30 a.m.
The force of the impact destroyed the vehicle and pinned the driver inside the vehicle. San Diego Fire-Rescue personnel used the Jaws of Life to free the victim from the wreckage, but she died at the scene.
The street was closed for several hours as police investigated the accident.
