The 15-year-old cyclist was hit around 7:30 a.m. on East Mission Road, west of the Mission Hills Court, San Diego County sheriff’s Deputy David J. Arnold Sr. said. The teen was hit from behind by a 48-year-old male driver, he said.

The teen boy was transported to Palomar Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, Arnold said. the boy’s name was withheld because his parents have not been notified, he said.

The driver, whose name was withheld pending an investigation to determine the cause of the crash, remained at the scene.

Alcohol or drug was not suspected to be a factor at this time, Arnold said.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision was urged to contact the San Marcos Sheriff’s Station.
