Police are asking the public’s help in identifying an armed suspect captured on surveillance video robbing a Denny’s restaurant in City Heights.

The man walked into the Denny’s location at 4365 University Avenue Monday shortly after 5:30 a.m. and asked an employee for change. While the worker was at the register, the suspect pulled a black semi-automatic handgun from underneath his jacket and demanded cash, according to San Diego police.

The employee complied and the suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The robber is described as a white male in his late 20s to early 30s, 5’8” to 5’10” tall, short hair, clean-shaven, wearing a dark-colored jacket with a black long-sleeve shirt underneath, jeans, gray baseball hat with dark-colored bill, and white and gray shoes.

Anyone with information on the identity or location of the suspect is asked to call the SDPD’s Robbery Unit at (619) 531-2299 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477. Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward to anyone with information that leads to an arrest in the case.
