Authorities released the name Tuesday of a 29-year-old man found fatally stabbed in Poway over the Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend.
Deputies responding to a reported assault near a 7-Eleven store in the 13000 block of Pomerado Road found Zubayr Phahez of Poway mortally wounded in his vehicle shortly after 1:30 a.m. Sunday, according to sheriff’s officials.
Medics took Phahez to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Lt. Rich Williams said.
Deputies searching the neighborhood found a man who matched the description of the assailant and took him into custody.
The suspect, later identified as 30-year-old transient Kevin Miles Talbott, was questioned, then arrested on suspicion of murder.
Talbott was being held at San Diego Central Jail without bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
Officials have disclosed no suspected motive for the alleged slaying.
In a Facebook profile, Phahez lists himself as a 7-Eleven store manager who attended Westview High School and attended San Diego Mesa College.
